New Short Film Hits Close to Home For The LGBTQ Community

Today, October 20th, marks Spirit Day across the country. It’s a day of of people everywhere taking a stand against bullying and showing their support for LGBTQ youth.

In recognition of this important day, we know how hard life can be for those who are LGBTQ – whether it’s an internal conflict with self-identification, or dealing with an angry or abusive family when coming out. There are many reasons why those in our community are followed continuously by grey clouds, and have more than a difficult time accepting themselves for who they really are.
Recently, the computer animation film studio Quorum Films released a short film titled “Borrowed Time” about a weathered Sheriff who faces demons of his past that he “has spent a lifetime trying to forget.” Similar to the struggles of some in the LGBTQ community, the Sheriff seems frighteningly close to giving up and giving in to the hardships life has given him.
Although a sad short film, at the end, he is strong enough to accept the past and the path life has carved, and the sun once again rises on him.
Watch it for yourself, and see how powerful it really is.

Supreme Court allows transgender military ban as the legal battle continues

Today, the Supreme Court of the United States has allowed President Donald Trump’s transgender military ban to go into effect; a ban that is both cruel and irrational to our community.

The policy was first announced by President Trump in July 2017 via Twitter. Since, the ban has faced legal battles in lower courts, resulting in nationwide injunctions prohibiting its implementation. SCOTUS’s decision today allows the ban to go into effect while the court decides whether to consider the merits of the case.
